TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE

Training is an important tool for increasing awareness of specific issues that affect affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity. Training can develop managerial and supervisory skills in these areas, and serve as prevention and first aid for particular problems.

In addition to training for managers and supervisors, programs are offered to faculty, students, staff, and those who wish to do business with UCSF. Training is tailored to meet the particular needs identified, and may take the form of either individual counseling, seminars, or group workshops and presentations. Programs are designed to cover a wide range of topics, and may include, but are not limited to:

Policy interpretation

Basic affirmative action and equal opportunity laws, regulations, and policies

Complaint prevention and conflict management

Developing and managing diversity

Developing departmental AA plans and programs

Harassment prevention (race, gender, ethnic, sexual orientation and disability etc...)

Cross-cultural communication

Business affirmative action strategies

Team building in a diverse environment

Creating an affirming environment

Department Diversity Training
